Save Environment: Save Water, Paper and Electricity
>> Thursday, November 19, 2009
I saw a poster in my office saying Save Environment: Save Water, Paper and Electricity. What does it mean? Why should I bother about environment?
Here is the answer. The environment is changing everyday. We are not getting proper rainfall. Agriculture is severely affected for that and the food production is highly reduced for that. How can we live without food?
Water level is going down. There will be huge deficit of drinking water. Do you think you can live without drinking water?
Temperature is increasing and it is unbearable during summer. Can you imagine to stay in hot summer where even an Air Conditioner will not be able to protect you from heat?
Energy resources are getting finished. Can you imagine a day without electricity?
Just think about it. One day this situation will come if we don't take the steps now. I know nobody wants to give an earth to their children where they will struggle for these basic needs.
Time has come to take action.
Don't waste water.
1. Take short shower.
2. Don't leave the tap open. Close taps properly.
3. Repair if there is leakage in water pipes.
4. Water the plants with as much water the plant needs, not more.
5. Turn off the water while you brush your teeth.
Don't waste paper. Paper comes from trees. If we cut down more trees for paper production, it has a direct impact on climate.
1. Use one tissue at a time.
2. Take printout only if it is necessary. Think before you print.
3. Use both sides of a sheet.
4. Recycle the paper you use.
Save energy. Save electricity.
1. Switch of all electrical appliances when you are going out of your home or leaving office.
2. Switch off monitor or TV when not in use.
3. Don't use air conditioners much. Use fans instead of AC.
4. Use solar water heater and solar panel as an alternative and renewable source of energy
5. Use 5 watt CFL for bathrooms and toilets
6. Use the microwave instead of the oven for cooking.
